The most crucial stage of an IT project is often the one that remains invisible – preparation.
During her participation in the online discussion "European funding for business technologies," organised by DevStyler.bg, Boyana Likomanova-Dimova, Head of Business Solutions & Consulting at Balkan Services, revealed why companies should think strategically even before applying for funding.
"The first and most important thing companies should do is research the market. This is key because winning a project does not guarantee long-term success – it depends on the correct implementation and use of the system."
Boyana emphasised that the implementation of IT solutions must be tailored to the specific needs and goals of the organisation:
"Systems are not a ready-made recipe with a universal effect. What we see in over 100 of our clients is that preliminary preparation acts as a springboard to successful implementation and real business benefits."
Among the key recommendations she gave to companies are:
-
Formulate at least two or three specific business goals – for example, cost optimisation, automation of key processes, data organisation and analysis, expansion into new markets, and other strategic priorities.
-
Determine what type of technology solution will best support the achievement of these goals – whether it is the implementation of a new system, upgrading an existing platform, or integrating additional functionalities.
-
Conduct an in-depth study of existing solutions on the market, gather feedback, and assess the potential of different implementers to select a partner with the necessary experience and capacity.
"When it comes to applying for funding, companies must have a clear idea of what they are looking for – this will make the project much more focused and sustainable," she added.
